Absolute encoders are used in applications where speed and position accuracy are very high. The principle of magnetic absolute encoders and optical absolute encoders is slightly different, but is generally the same. Absolute encoders consist of two code discs, one of which is fixed to the center of the axis and the other of which is free to rotate. When the code wheel rotates, the marker on a circle code path can convert the current position to a special coded output (typically a binary code). For optical absolute encoders, "mark" is where the light passes, and for magnetic absolute encoders, the "mark" is the position of the magnetic pole signal that the sensor array senses.
The principle and structure of the absolute encoder allows him to provide a higher quality feedback signal:
• Higher resolution
• Faster start-up of the system can be achieved because the origin is not required
• Precise motion control for multiple axes
• Multiple communication protocols
• The system can be restored quickly after a power failure
Another feature of absolute encoders is the selection of multiple output signal types. Encoder not only to collect feedback signals, must also be transmitted to a host system with a communication protocol. Absolute encoders are usually binary coded, but can be converted to a variety of communication protocols. This makes the absolute value encoder can be adapted to many kinds of communication systems.
