Three basic reasons for choosing an absolute encoder-whether to choose a single-turn absolute value!

Changchun Rongde Optics Co.,Ltd.   Release time:2018-08-17   Browse:1122

The position control of the motion control system, including servo and frequency conversion, should use absolute encoders for three basic reasons:
1. The problem of movement power outages.
2. The anti-jamming problem of the signal.
3. CPU resource issues read by follow-up devices.

1.Power outage problem: For the first question, it seems that everyone understands that the single turn absolute sensor can be circled by subsequent devices, then the power failure can be moved by half a turn. Most of them with a brake or a screw rod can be realized, and multi turns If the absolute sensor is over 4096 laps, it is also through the subsequent equipment to add a circle, then the power outage can move 2048 laps, which can satisfy most applications.

2.Signal anti-interference problem, for many people still do not understand, the anti-interference problem of the incremental encoder is a terrible trouble, and did not expect to be able to change the absolute encoder. In fact, just change the absolute encoder’s single circle, as long as The time of continuous interference does not exceed the time of half a turn, and the absolute signal is still there. In that way, the anti-jamming problem is almost the same for a single lap and multiple laps.

3.The CPU resources of the subsequent devices, this problem is not much to know, with incremental encoders, especially high resolution encoders, if it is multi axis, it will be very tired, The actual result is may increase error. The absolute encoder, as long as the sampling time is within a half turn of the single turn, and the multi turn is rotated within 2048 turns.  You can count the time when you want, save a lot of CPU time to do other things.

According to the above three reasons, depending on your actual needs, whether you need to use an absolute encoder, and you can judge whether you use a single circle or a multi turn.
